Announcment in 8hrs?
I can see it now - “Ha ha - there is no such app - you have all been totally fooled you gullible punks.”
The only thing worse than missing a deadline, is missing an arbitrary deadline that you set yourself and that only a dozens people actually care about.
January 8th, 2006 at 8:23 pm

January 8th, 2006 at 8:47 pm
Let’s say I have an idea to make a Flying Car - I then tell everyone I’m going to make the Flying Car - I draw pictures of what the Flying Car will look like and post them, along with my thoughts about what a good Flying Car should include. Everyone is really stoked about my Flying Car. So I get to work on building my Flying Car.
I tell everyone they can get the Flying Car on June 4th - but as the day draws near - it occurs to me that I don’t know how to actually make a Flying Car - I just thought it was a good idea. So June 4th comes along, and I tell everyone - ‘It’s not ready yet. But, I’ll tell you what - it will be ready in 14days - and here’s a timer to count down to the day - the deadline I’ve set for myself to give you the Flying Car.”
I then go and keep working on the Flying Car - but I still don’t actually have a Flying Car - I’m about to be in deep deep shit. The countdown ends, and I have no Flying Car - so what do I do?
I delay… I evade… even though no one ever asked me for the Flying Car, or told me to build one, or set the deadlines for me - I am now in an impossible situation. I have no Flying Car. I can only hope that people will wait long enough for me to learn how to build one.
We’re all waiting for a Flying Car.

kyle, couldn’t have said it better myself
January 8th, 2006 at 8:52 pm
Can’t you see, iTheather for some weird reason has to be launched (or killed) just after Steve’s keynote, so we’ll wait and see.

I still give it a shot of being true
hell if its fake, well played, wel played indeed
January 8th, 2006 at 9:30 pm
Wow. It’s not even the 9th and everybody is belly-aching.
Settle down - all good things are worth waiting for.
None of you are perfect - and to expect someone else to be is unreasonable.

Yikes. You people scare me. It’s always the stuff you get for FREE that people gripe about, isn’t it? MEWANTMEWANTMEWANT…Try a single malt whiskey and some sleep. Then come back and gripe some more…
January 8th, 2006 at 10:07 pm
Its the 9th.
I know we promised it by today.
We told you we had running versions, when in reality we don’t have any of the features working yet, all those images are photoshopped.
Im sorry for lying to all of you, but our intentions were true. We did want to get this working. We have yet to deciced whether or not this project should be continued.
January 8th, 2006 at 10:09 pm
WoW. I think you better find a rock or a small uninhabited corner of the earth to inhabit right now…Cause the shit’s about to hit the fan.

January 8th, 2006 at 10:16 pm
Look, anybody can fake it.
January 8th, 2006 at 10:17 pm
It’s not a matter of belly-aching - really.
I know that some people are looking at the indignation being expressed and thinking that it’s rude, or ungrateful - but let’s be clear, the people logging in here hoping to try out and support this project were not the ones who installed a count-down timer or set the deadline.
the iTheatre project has a following and momentum - two things that are just as important to a release as the actual product - and the more people get to thinking that this is bill of goods, the less likely it is that whatever effort they put into it will pay off. If this tree had fallen in an empty forest, no one would give shit - but if the tree is yelling “Hey, I’m going to fall, and this is when I’m going to do it!” - then it raises some questions.
No one here expects anyone to be perfect - and I, and others are more than happy to wait for a good product - but if they didn’t want people here waiting for it, talking about it, and expecting something - then they shouldn’t have asked for exactly that.
Things like this stick in the mind of consumers, investors, and employers. So, I’ll give them all the time they want - and weeks and weeks more - what I will not give them is any buzz, any press, any faith, or any slack. The feedback they’re getting is exactly the feedback they asked for.
January 8th, 2006 at 10:23 pm
keir you confuse me…if thats your way of responding to this, then good luck with life. you set your deadline….now i have to decide if you are trying to make a joke, or if you really do not have any program and everything really is photoshopped, other than the one shot of huckleberrys desktop that looked real real today.
January 8th, 2006 at 10:25 pm
I wonder, is there anything in this system to prevent someone from impersonating something else?
January 8th, 2006 at 10:25 pm
Wow! Well, I must say due to the fact that I (we) have all been anticipating this for some time , I(we) are dissapointed (as you see in previous posts). Let’s all try and remember that this is a free piece of software and I can see that many, many peoples are waiting for it. Due to the designs of this website and just some screenshots it is very promising. Let us remember that we belong to an elite community (Apple Lovers) and I tend to believe that mac users don’t do those types of things to each other(punk each other). I am waiting for the release or explanation in aprox 6 hours. Let’s give these gents a chance.
Thanks
January 8th, 2006 at 10:27 pm
Sure doesn’t seem like it :/
January 8th, 2006 at 10:29 pm
Indeed. I think it’s best if we just wait for 8 hours (or whatever) and/or wait to see an official comment by someone involved in the project.
January 8th, 2006 at 10:38 pm
You’re right. I apologize for my comments and for being an ass. I’m not optimistic, but I’ll give you a chance to explain. I’m hoping that in 8 hours you’ll either have something or you’ll spill the beans as to what is going on–not a five word paragraph, but–out of curiosity–a detailed account of what’s happened since Dec 23 and your future plans. I just want to know…not that it matters, but I think it would be good karma.
January 8th, 2006 at 11:16 pm
Just for the record, I think that most of the people waiting for this release are thankful that there are people out there willing to invest in projects such as this. Not all of us are complainers, and think that the world owes us something.
Thank you (iTheatre project team) for even having this site (being as it’s free to us web surfers.) Most people complaining probably don’t have the necessary skills, or originality to complete a project like this.
I know that I’m very eager for an application like this and hope that if this project doesn’t launch this application, someone out there will. I’m very disappointed with apple for limiting their application (it provides me more motivation to use, and perhaps even donate to a project like this).
Again, thank you, and good luck with the project (there aren’t enough good Mac oriented applications).
January 8th, 2006 at 11:31 pm
See!
I can pretend I’m someone too!
(right, “Keir”?)
Guys, you can input any name into the name box, like me.
seriously, dont fall for this shit.
January 8th, 2006 at 11:31 pm
Now i’m Keir!
The project is “cancelled”!

Just so you all know… there is an alternative. This app is not entirely complete (hence the 0.5 release), but it might just give some of you something to tinker with in the meantime.
CenterStage
http://www.centerstageproject.com/
Or follow the develpment of if iTheater turns out to be a hoax. I don’t remember how I came across this… but it is something (GUI could be a little less green). If your looking for an alternative to Front Row while waiting for iTheater, this might just be it.
Interested to see what iTheater has to offer — Keep your fingers crossed
January 9th, 2006 at 12:16 am
Hi…
I’m known as kewne347 in deviantART; and Keir requested my permission to use a podcast icon I made, for the iTheater project. I said he may use it, as long as credit is given to me.
However, I was banned on deviantART and my gallery wiped clean, etc.
I have seen my podcast icon still on one or two sites. Also, the deviantart staff never banned or deleted my podcast icon before i was completely banned and denied access to most features of the website. And the last thing is that I still have the icon on my own computer, and I am somewhat a part of this projecy maybe sooo…
Will my podcast icon still be used in iTheater with me receiving credit?
January 9th, 2006 at 1:39 am
Hey Jason, I watched your banned DA account, and maybe you should tell the audience why you’re banned there. I’m pretty sure it’s because all your icons are ripped, or, to make it even clearer, you are an art-thief. I didn’t see an Podcast icon, but I’d try to find out who really created it to not get into trouble
January 9th, 2006 at 1:44 am
I am very tired of waiting for this app. Every release has been delayed and has come up short. August? NO! Christmas? NO! January 9? Not yet! come on guys, if you are going to make up a release date, stick to it. I wouldnt be surprised if there will never be a tangible release. Watch, tomorrow they will announce “we cannot keep up with Apple’s FrontRow2 or with the CenterStage project” and this project will be KIA.
Its a shame because I was realy anxious to see what other developers can produce to compete with centerstage and frontrow (neither is anywhere near perfect…in fact, backstage has been more useful to me)

People, you get what you paid for. You haven’t paid for anything, ya ain’t getting shit.
When will you learn.
Pay these people and maybe they will deliver. Until then, shut your trap and wait for a bonafide offering. Nothing in life is free. When will you learn. These guys had high hopes but alas, hopes are not worth anything.

Hmm - so, if it was a ‘last minute bug’ just release the bugger, say there’s a huge bug and you’ll release a patched version in a week - better than looking like fools for the third time eh?
January 9th, 2006 at 2:26 am
cut thr guys some slack if you think you can do better go ahead, your getting the app for free stop complaining
January 9th, 2006 at 2:54 am
It’s not that we are upset because it is not ready. You simply can not play with people’s emotions. People are funny in that they have hopes and expectations based on information we receive every day. One should not string people along, who cares if it is free or not. The point is you have no right to play with people’s emotions. Computer fans are like any fans in the world, expecations are created such as that their favorite sports team will win because that is what their teams inherently promise. This is the same, you have a group of people that promise you something and don’t deliver. Not just once. Why so much secrecy. Why not disclose that promises are not going to be met.
All they are doing is losing CREDIBILITY.
I’m sorry but if you don’t have credibility in this world, then just hang up your shoes because no one is going to believe you anymore.
Let the project go, you ain’t gonna do it. Let the paid professionals come up with the solutions.

I’ve been struggling, holding off getting a Mac Mini since they were introduced, promising myself I wouldn’t spend the money until there was a decent home theatre application for Mac OS X. So, I certainly want to see a great application as much as anyone, but man, some of you folks need to lay off the caffeine, or take up meditation, or switch medications… sure it’s frustrating, but the suspicion, venom, and meanness of some of the comments here is just bizarre. Chill. It’ll be here when it’s here… and if it doesn’t come, something else will — I strongly suspect this and CenterStage are not the only Mac Media suites in development. First to market with something really great at a “reasonable” price (free or not) will win - clearly there’s pent up demand!
January 9th, 2006 at 3:34 am
Ok, well obviously I didn’t type what was posted above under my name.
Announcement to be made shortly.
Thank you for your patience.
January 9th, 2006 at 3:39 am
To those who read my post above Re: CenterStage… I was merely suggesting an alternative and in no way bashing the “project” here. I personally like Front Row, but agree it could be improved, and knowing Apple, I suspect it will.
And those who say don’t complain, because it’s free… the competition they are up against already offers it free. I do agree that it seems we’re all being taken for a ride.
Somebody above mentioned the delays of PathFinder 4 (but they have delivered on previous products). This is a product that there is no proof of, unless someone here can show some. So far this has been a closed product. I just hope it doesn’t stay that way!
January 9th, 2006 at 4:23 am
Something strange is happening with that counter on the main page…a couple of hours ago it showed around 8 hours and now it’s 9+. What the * is going on?!
January 9th, 2006 at 6:36 am
Good luck guys. Time to move on for me. I’m sure things will work out great for you.
January 9th, 2006 at 7:10 am
FIND THE THREAD LINK AND THIS POST UNDER “FINAL DELAY” SECTION (FROM THE MAIN PAGE)
Btw… follow the thread link provided to check this out. They just made a call to beta testers and then he replies to someone (oh we already have our beta testers)! … what a crock of shit! So soon?
Also, building in support for touch screens? What the hell!? Are there tablet Macs on the market now or am I missing something. I mean this isn’t a big enough request to be built in by some independent developers. Anyway this looks more and more like a hoax to me, especially with the date being pushed to January 31st now. If you had such a problem perhaps you shouldn’t have put your December release over a month ahead of schedule.
User loyalty will be lost over this little stunt, if the software ever comes to life. Somehow I just can’t believe this…
January 9th, 2006 at 7:26 am
READ THE THREAD AND PDF (YOU’LL UNDERSTAND)
“3 mere weeks” till we get our hands on iTheater.
The January “9th was a date that was a little optimistic form the start. We set the date without thinking about it.”
Your team planned on releasing this in August (when what you had nothing to offer!?) and then pushed that to December 23rd… and January 9th was being a little optimistic? I can’t wait until January 31st becomes to optimistic! (maybe due to the celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day) Right!!!
January 9th, 2006 at 7:34 am
“Time to move on folks, nothing to see here.”
This product is surely dead in the water… looks like Apple’s FrontRow isn’t so bad after all. Compared to NOTHING that is! Guess we’ll never know if we never get to see the damn “project”
Sorry so harsh
January 9th, 2006 at 7:37 am
Scott, it wasn’t exactly necessary to duplicate your post in 3 of the topics on the Blog.
January 9th, 2006 at 7:54 am
Once again, gotta get the word out. I would strongly advise others to check out the other blogs for more info on this ongoing project. The keyword being “ongoing”
January 9th, 2006 at 8:00 am
All I can say is, give us 3 weeks, and you’ll have iTheater in your hands.
Guaranteed.
January 9th, 2006 at 8:10 am
I’m mostly tired and cranky… I was anticipating this thing (annoucement or otherwise). Sorry if I posted anything offensive. I’m really looking forward to this you guys.
goodnight all!
January 9th, 2006 at 8:11 am
No problem.
We appreciate your support and look forward to bringing you what you’ve been waiting for as soon as we can.
P.S. You’ve got me duplicating posts now
